If I had an extra $300 I know what my best friend and I would do. . .we are both high school counselors and have a child we both work with that was a Katrina evacuee. We recently moved him to a children's home because he was no longer wanted by his guardians. I would take him to the state basketball tournament this weekend and treat him to the best spring break he's ever had - fishing, traveling with my family and doing things he's never experienced. He has such a sweet spirit about him and is so grateful for everything that I am taking him in for Spring Break so he can experience a real family atmosphere. I can't wait!!!
If I had an extra $300, I would take my best friend on a shoe shopping spree. She absolutely loves shoes (what girl doesn't?)and I think she has about 200 pair in her collection. Although she doesn't NEED anymore, spending extra money is supposed to be used for spending on extra stuff. I would also take her to the Container Store so she can better organize her collection. What's a better way to display her foot gear than with clear shoe boxes? Maybe I would be able to throw in a pedicure so she can showcase her shoes.
I have a friend who had a small place she rented. But, unfortunantly things happen and she moved out not because she was forced to but she feared for her life and her two kids.Fortunantly that person has been encarcerated so he is out of the way. For the past 4 months she had been staying at her moms so she can save up money to cath up on her bills. So she finally is fit to move out and has a place, but she is need of a dresser and a bed. She doesn't mind sleeping on the floor for a while. So I would buy her a dresser and a bed and some organizers to help her out. Also I would get her kids comfortable sets.
If I had an extra $300.00 I would bye my best friend a airplane ticket to Key west Florida and pay for a two day hotel day. She is under so much stress keeping her family in tact she lives with her parents and brother and they go to her for everything and she is sickly she has back problems, high blood pressure and suffers from depression. She really needs a break from it all to just relax and enjoy herself. That would be my gift to her a well needed and deserved vacation.
My best friend, Connie is going through a really difficult time in her life right now. Her son is a Marine and was injured in Iraq. He is fighting for his life in Bethesda, MD. She really didn't have time to pack everything before she had to take off to Germany and then she flew back with him a few weeks ago to Maryland. She lives in Pennsylvania which is 4 hours away, and doesn't want to leave him. She has done so much for him and never leaves his side, I would like to do something for special for her. If I had an extra $300 I would go to one of her favorite clothing stores and buy her some clothes and something special for her to make her feel as special as she truly is. I know there are many things she needs, but is too proud to ask. This is what I would do for my best friend. Thank you. Robyn Dyke
