i have alot of best friends and have been very blessed with them, however my very best friend is my mom, she is the best mom anyone could have, if i had 300 dollars i would take her to lunch and give her the rest in a gift certificate because she always buys my clothes and my daughters, she is forever giving me food and helping out, she is 72 years old and still drives and goes to exercise class, i just would like to give a little back to her for all that she has done for me.

If I had an extra $300 I would give it to my girlfriend so that she would not have to worry about a dorm deposit for college. Her family does not have money and she was approved for enough financial aide to cover the cost of tuition and a portion of her housing. She needs $300 to reserve her room for school. If hse does not get this money she will lose her chance in attending college. I am so proud of her because she has fundraised for two years to prepare for her big day now she is short $300. I do not want to see the glare and tanasity in her eye go because she could not afford to secure a dorm room. If she did not need help with her dorm room then I would give her the money to buy books and other supplies.

My best friend and his wife are very giving people. They have three children, two Daughters, ages 11 and 9, and a Son, age 7. They are always doing things for their kids first. I’m sure anyone with children also feels this way, myself included, but I see first hand the daily sacrifices that they make in order to provide for them. In addition to their children, they are always doing things for others, including myself. Charles (along with myself) is a Cub Scout Den leader and also a coach for his Son’s Little League team. His wife is a Girl Scout troop leader for their daughters and teaches Sunday School at the Presbyterian church in our hometown. But their giving goes way beyond that. Six years ago, they came to my rescue when I was going through a bitter divorce. My life was in shambles, and they offered me a place to live and the support network that got me through the most difficult time of my life. I can’t begin to tell you the things that they have done for me over the years. If it weren’t for their caring and giving ways, I don’t know where I’d be today. I probably wouldn’t have the loving and caring relationship that I have with my Son today if it were not for them. I’ve never been able to fully repay them for everything that they have done for me and my Son over the years. I’ve helped them with home improvement projects and things like that, but it’s never seemed enough. When I read the theme for this contest, I thought to myself, “what a great way to say thank you” to them after all these years. To be able to hand my friend and his wife $300 and tell them to treat themselves to a very special night out, the looks on their faces would be priceless. It would buy them something that can’t be bought in any store - a well deserved night out, some special “alone time” together, and recognition for all that they do!

If I had an extra $300,I would take my best friend, Stacy Johnson, on a woman’s day out. First, I would take her to get a full body massage and then I would take her to get a manicure and pedicure. After that, I would take her to her favorite clothing store, actually I would not, because her budget is so tight that it would usually mean Wal-Mart so, I would take her somewhere that she would never be able to afford and have her pick out a complete out fit. Once she has had a complete makeover, I would take her to her favorite restaurant that she would never treat herself to. You may think that this is not very original but, let me tell you about my friend Stacy. She is a God fearing woman and about five years ago, she took in her four grandchildren to raise because their mother could not get her life settled. Stacy and her husband, who were newlyweds at the time, unselfishly gave up many things, including a job in order to take care of their grandkids. At the time, the kids age ranged from one year to five years old. This is a great task for anyone! Stacy and her husband do not have a lot of money but they do the best that they can to provide food, shelter and family environment for their grandkids. She is deserving of this and so much more.

My best friend is my dog, Blackjack. He is a beautiful six year old black Newfoundland that I got from Newfie Rescue. He is my 9th rescued Newfoundland and he makes me laugh and puts his head on my lap when I cry. He is with me whenever possible. If I had an extra $300.00 I would make a donation in his name to a Newfoundland cause that pays for medical care for Newfs when their owner is not able to. I would split the $300.00 and donate half to NEADS, an organization in MA that trains dogs to assist people in wheel chairs and those with other needs and also trains dogs to be hearing dogs for the deaf. The $300.00 would affect many lives in such a positive way.
