Stretching Your Money Until Your Next Payday
Many times payday can seem like an eternity away and we often question how we can financially make it until our next payday. Many people live payday to payday but there are ways to manage money so the stretch between paydays does not seem as long. Most people are paid hourly or on a salary, so determining the amount they receive on their paycheck can easily be determined. Total the amount you take home every payday and let's get started from there. First of all, total up your mortgage payment, rent, grocery bill, credit card bills, cable bill, phone bill, electric bill, water bill, and he any other bills that you have on a monthly basis. Get a calendar or a monthly plan or and write the dates these bills are due on it. Keep in mind; you want to make sure you schedule these payments before the due date so they will have plenty of time to be mailed.
Now that we have a big picture of your monthly bills we can start to determine the best way for you to pay them. On your first two-week cycle (assuming you get paid every two weeks) total up the amount of money that is owed in bills and subtract debt from what you make. The total amount of money remaining is what you will have to work with for the next two weeks. If your total amount of money remaining does not seem like enough to make it until your next payday then you might want to look into working overtime or picking up extra money in other ways. You might be surprised how much of a difference mowing a couple yards a week will make in your budget. Another alternative is to borrow a short-term loan until payday.
