Individual Development Accounts
There are thousands of different options you have when you decide to purchase a home. One of the many options, which are especially for those with lower incomes, is an Individual Development Account or an IDA. This is a special savings program for the working, low income families. This savings program will help you to save money for buying a home, starting a new business or for funding your college education. This program was started with the intention of helping those that don’t necessarily have the means themselves, to obtain some sort of assets. They allow you to save money and they will match what you put into the program either 1:1 or 2:1.
The savings account program is usually directed through a community organization or church. They will inform you of the standards for applicants; they will set the limit on matches and work with a financial institution to set up the account. IDAs are part of the nonprofit group's Mentoring Toward Independence program, which includes financial training and counseling.
There are many of these programs available around the world; you will just need to fully investigate where you may obtain one in your area. This program helps those that are not financially educated, and they will help you to gain a better knowledge of how to manage the money that you do have.
This is not a mortgage you will obtain with a huge interest rate, and you are not borrowing money from anyone for that matter. This is completely your money, and you are just getting help from people that understand how difficult it is to come up ahead in this world. These programs are not currently operating in every state, so you will need to search the web for more information and see if this is something that could possibly be beneficial to you.
