Get More Vacation For Less Money
Sun, blue skies, blue seas and more history that you could shake a stick at. This is a far too brief description of the beauty and marvel that is to be found in the nation of Greece. From the deep blue seas of the northwestern coast to the stunning blue-green waters of the Aegean, Greece has just about everything that you could hope for in a sun-drenched, Mediterranean paradise.Of course, for many of us it isn’t an issue of wanting to travel there, but to travel there for less money. Unfortunately, many see a travel destination as glorious as Greece to be something for those who have money and free time to burn. This could not be less true. There are ways for anyone to travel to Greece, and with far less trouble than you would think.
Let's start with the applying for your passport. A surprising number of Americans never have a passport, and without this, you can't travel anywhere beyond North America and parts of the Caribbean. Save up $100 for your passport. While the passport application will run you less than $100, it never hurts to have an additional $20-$30 set aside. You can find the application at the post office.
Next off, know where you want to travel. For the sake of argument, we'll say that you are going to travel to Greece. Go on the internet and look for online travel guides. They are quite easy to find, and can provide you with a plethora of travel information for Greece. You can go to a bookstore and buy a Greek travel guide as well, but you might want to start with the internet as this will cost you less than spending $20 to $30 for a travel guide. Buy your printed travel guide after you are more informed, so that you get the guide that is right for you. In short, use the internet for your initial research. This will cost you less time and money than just about any other travel research means.
Find your plane ticket. Don’t just accept the first ticket you find. There are times of the year, the month and even the week, that are less expensive to travel on than other times. For this reason, it is important to be flexible with your travel time. This means that you should prepare early to travel later. For example, if you want to travel, start planning for your trip now, and choose a travel time that is about eight months to one year from where you are.
This will allow you to have enough time to get your passport, save money, research your destination, save more money, find your plane ticket, save even more money, and, oh, save some more money. With the proper research and preparation, you can travel for less money than most people would pay. This does not mean that you don’t have to save money, but simply that you can get the most out of what you do save. Taking care of travel expenses over the course of months means that you don’t have to drop an enormous sum of cash at one time.
Find out what your overall travel costs will be, and then add as much more as you can. In this way, should an unexpected expense arise, you will be able to attend to it. Of course, if nothing unforeseen comes up, then your only problem will be having more money than you expected. Poor you.
