Budgeting Is Important and Potentially Entertaining
The family life can be one of profound joys and enrichment. However, without strong communication and careful planning, the family life can also produce some of the worst conflicts that one could suffer. Entertaining such ideas as the magic of love and the bliss of marriage are fine to a point; somewhere along the line, you must realize that in order for true, deep, loving relationships to last, effort and time must be put into that relationship.One of the most basic areas of potential conflict in a family environment can be found in finances. While financial issues are rarely seen as romantic, they are quite real and a simple budget plan can help you to handle them. Preparing a budget will probably not be the most entertaining thing that a couple can do together, but it will allow you to prevent a tremendous amount of potential friction.
One way to look at preparing a budget is to approach it as an event in which you can spend some quality time together. Just because you are discussing budget matters does not mean that it has to be all dry numbers and fiscal belt-tightening. Take the approach of seeing this particular activity as a time in which you can both discuss what you want out of your life together. Discuss where you would like to see yourselves in five years from now, in fifteen years from now, and so on.
Do you want to travel together a great deal? Budget towards a goal of sustained travel plans. Do you want a perfect home together or lots of clothes? Perhaps one or both of you is entertaining the idea of writing a novel. Budget for the things you truly want together, not what you think you might want. Look at your total income, and figure out your necessary expenses, what you would like to save on a monthly basis, and how much you will need for the things you want over the years.
Through preparing a budget for the future, you will become far more aware of the present and of your time together here and now. Remember that any activity that you do together is an opportunity for you to be entertaining for one another. Write down what you want to accomplish together and budget for those things. Loving relationships require time and effort, but you will find that you whatever you put in will come back to you through the years.
