Consider sending your children to public education institutions rather than private, this will save you a great deal of money in the long run. Another money saver is to drive less expensive and fuel efficient cars throughout your life, you could save thousands.
Try to hold at least an annual garage sale, you can get rid of things you no longer need and get a little money for them, you could consider putting your items up for auction on Ebay, one man's trash could be another's treasure.
Try to shop at consignment stores for clothing or household items; you could cut your spending in half. In addition, only use credit cards for emergency purchases that you plan to pay in full, there is no need to pay unnecessary interest unless it is an emergency. It all comes down to learning to spend smart and know that you should put at least a small portion of your paychecks into a savings account.
