AIG Made To Pay For Its Lenient Loans
For those that face foreclosure due to a lenient home loan granted from AIG may find themselves getting a little help. In recent news it was reported that AIG will be helping those that are facing foreclosure due to a law suit. AIG which is known to some people for its insurance is one of the mortgage lenders that played a hand in granting home loans to those that had weak credit. This news that AIG is to help those that are now in over their head with mortgage payments is proof that some justification is being sought for the high rise of defaults that are being seen across the United States from these lenient loans that were written. It will take time to tell what will come from other mortgage lenders, but some hope can be felt that at least one of the home loan writers are being made to help those that they hurt.
AIG will not be stopping at helping those that are a victim of the lenient loans gone wrong, but they will also be donating money to help those that are struggling with their finances by donating money to credit counseling.
The rise of foreclosures due to defaults on home loans has been in the forefront of the news for quite some time. It is estimated that the rate of foreclosure today is double what it was two years ago. This is a startling fact and just more truth of just how many lenders jump on the opportunity to grant those with poor credit a home loan right when the mortgage industry hit a bust. While the money that AIG will have to give to make up for the loans it wrote, it will hardly hurt the business as a whole, but will hopefully set higher standards as well as show that these peoples suffering will not go unnoticed.
