The Single Mom and the Payday Loan
As a single mom with two very young children, I can think of many useful things that I could accomplish with three hundred dollars. Catching up on a few bills or putting the money into my savings account for a rainy day, for example. But, as a single mom, I also strive to provide my children with not only everything that they need, but also everything that they want, within reason. If I had three hundred dollars, which was not intended for bills, I would use it to make my older son's fifth birthday bigger and better than I could otherwise.Birthdays have always been a big deal in my family, especially the milestones; five, ten, sixteen, eighteen, twenty-one, and so on. My mother raised me and my brothers and sisters on her own, but she always managed to make us feel like royalty when our birthday came around. With three hundred dollars I could throw him the big party that he expects and still be able to afford the things that he has asked for and will ask for leading up to his birthday.
He is very musical and on top of the keyboard and drum set that he already has, he wants an electric bass guitar just like his godfather's. If I had three hundred dollars, I would have that guitar and all of the other toys and games that he wants wrapped and waiting for him to open on the day of his birthday party.
