With your fast-paced lifestyle, you definitely need a good rest or, better yet, a getaway. However, with prices going up these days, it’s no wonder you’re getting apprehensive.
Here are 5 ways to go on a vacation with the least possible cost:
1. Plan everything. You will never know how much you will likely spend or even where to cut costs if you don’t make a plan. Make sure that you already know where to live and what to do weeks or even months before you leave.
2. Travel during off-peak season. Besides the fact that there are fewer people and less hassle, you can also take advantage of very low prices of hotels and airplane tickets during off-peak seasons.
3. Go with a group. There’s beauty in traveling with some of your best friends. You don’t have to shoulder all of the expenses. All of you can simply contribute to a particular amount, which you will be using during the duration of your travel. What’s more, being with a group is ultimate fun.
4. Settle for what is free. A real backpacker knows how to look for opportunities where he doesn’t have to spend on anything. One of the major costs when traveling is your accommodation. However, rather than spending hundreds of dollars even on a cheap motel, why don’t you befriend a local instead? There are so many locales who are very open and hospitable to tourists, and they may offer you a place to stay for the night for free. Most of all, you have gained a new friend.
5. Ride the bus, not the taxi. In case you don’t know, taxis are very expensive, and there’s always the possibility that drivers will unscrupulously trick you into paying more. To save travel expenses, find the nearest metro and ride the bus. Besides being able to see more of what the place has to offer, you can keep some of your cash for something more essential like food, or even something fun, like neat souveniers
